Plain-language definitions of terms you’ll see throughout these docs and the app.
Application-to-Person messaging — business texting. US carriers require A2P registration so business SMS (like confirmations) delivers reliably. See Registration & consent.
Answer mode
Section titled “Answer mode”The setting that decides when Neuros picks up: answer everything, ring you first, after-hours only, or off. See Answer modes.
ASR (speech-to-text)
Section titled “ASR (speech-to-text)”Automatic Speech Recognition — turning the caller’s speech into text. The first stage of the voice pipeline.
Barge-in
Section titled “Barge-in”When a caller talks over Neuros and it stops to listen, like a real conversation.
Call Map
Section titled “Call Map”The visual, node-based flow that guides every call.
Escalation rule
Section titled “Escalation rule”A rule that brings in a human — notify, take a message, warm-transfer, or get someone on now — when a call meets a condition. See Owner take-over.
Forwarding
Section titled “Forwarding”Sending calls from your existing number to your CoveCall number, so Neuros answers without changing your number. See Porting & forwarding.
Hard cap
Section titled “Hard cap”A billing setting that makes calls ring your phone (instead of incurring overage) once you reach your plan’s minutes. See Usage & alerts.
HIPAA mode
Section titled “HIPAA mode”PHI-safe handling for medical practices — consent prompts and minimum-necessary capture, enabled by the Dental / Medical vertical.
Intent
Section titled “Intent”What a caller wants (booking, a question, a complaint). Neuros detects it to route the call.
LLM (language model)
Section titled “LLM (language model)”The model that decides what Neuros says, following your locked instructions. The middle stage of the voice pipeline.
Neuros
Section titled “Neuros”The AI agent that powers CoveCall. You can rename it. See What is Neuros?.
Overage
Section titled “Overage”Minutes used beyond your plan’s monthly allowance, billed at $0.45/min unless you use a hard cap.
Owner take-over
Section titled “Owner take-over”Stepping into a live call yourself, or having Neuros hand off to a human. See Owner take-over.
Porting
Section titled “Porting”Permanently moving your phone number to CoveCall (takes a few business days), versus forwarding (instant).
Registration fee
Section titled “Registration fee”A possible one-time fee to activate a number in some regions. See Registration & consent.
RLS (row-level security)
Section titled “RLS (row-level security)”A database safeguard ensuring each business can only access its own data. See Security & data.
Sentiment
Section titled “Sentiment”Whether a caller seemed satisfied, neutral, or unhappy — shown on calls and the Overview.
TTS (text-to-speech)
Section titled “TTS (text-to-speech)”Turning Neuros’s reply into a natural voice. The final stage of the voice pipeline.
Warm transfer
Section titled “Warm transfer”Connecting a call to a human while first playing them a short spoken summary, so they start in context.
